Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2019 Verified Purchase Purchased this system for a 3/4 acre pond about 4 months ago. The pond is close (~100ft) from the house, so I knew noise was a possible issue. I placed the unit on a treated 6x6 in a weather proof wood box, with many vent holes in the base and a vented roof. I drilled four indents for the rubber vibration dampening feet on the pump to partially sit in so it doesn't 'walk' and contact the edge of the box. It worked great for about 4 months, but now that the pond level is lowered (hot dry summer in East Texas), there's been all kinds of issues. First, the pressure relief started going off all the time (really loud noise), then the bubble pattern changed one day - I pulled it up and saw that the diffuser disk had broken off. The lake is about 15ft deep where the disk was and no cows, or swimmers, or anything other than fish to break it off, so I don't understand why it broke off. I ordered another disk (was a pain to find the correct one since none of these package components are clearly labelled) - I ended up with a larger disk (which should have helped the pressure situation with the relief valve). However, now it only runs for about an hour before the weighted line bursts at the compressor end. My theory is that its because it's seen too much sun since the lake level is lowered. I've cut and redone the end 3 times now, and am going to try some ag spray hose to replace about 10ft of the weighted line out so it's only in the water - I"ll have to deal with floating hose later. Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2019 Verified Purchase I have a pond that is approximately 1/3 acre and it is pretty deep for its size, about 20 feet at the deepest point. I put the diffuser at a point just over 10 feet deep and installed the motor in a box that I built to house it. I also drilled a couple of ventilation holes and installed an exhaust fan in the box. I put both the fan and the aerator on a timer and run the unit for about 9 hours per day. I noticed almost immediate improvement in water clarity, fish activity and visible algae. My diffuser is approximately 150 feet from the aerator and motor. I purchased an additional 50 feet of weighted hose to reach the point where I needed to sink the diffuser. I'm a believer. Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2018 Verified Purchase For the first time in years, our pond is clear of algae! We have had massive fish die-off twice in three years. We had the water tested for chemical run-off from the surrounding fields, but the tests were negative. We did, however have a LOT of algae and it was determined that our fish died from oxygen deprivation. We finally took the expert's advice and installed an Aerator (we chose the AirPro Pond Aerator) and the algae was completely gone within a week! We now have happy, healthy fish! And a beautiful pond. Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2018 Verified Purchase It was easy to install and has been working great. We had 3 or 4 dead bream before installing the aerator due to an algae bloom, low oxygen, etc.. We have had no more losses since we started using the unit and the water is significantly clearer, despite heavy pollen this time of year. We actually installed our pump in an extra bee hive that we modified slightly to allow additional screened ventilation. When the pump is running and the hive lid is on, you can barely hear it if you're more than 50 feet away. We are happy with the purchase thus far and are counting on the equipment working well for some years... Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2019 Verified Purchase The only issue I have is the price... I'm a manufacturing engineer, and I'm sure the price could be reduced significantly and garner a bigger market share. The only modification I made was to add a small piece of molded plastic to the base plate in the area of the hose notch to minimize the risk of abrasion to the air hose. I would also add a few strategically placed holes to aid in lowering the diffuser assembly into the water. The noise level is fairly high, but can be minimized by shroud. I made one from a plastic milk crate and some rigid polyurethane sheet insulation. Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2017 Verified Purchase doing a very good job clearing my 1/2 acre pond. ----water movement can be seen in all direction from the aerator over all surface---cost of operation from my utility 63 cents per day Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2020 Verified Purchase So I'm unsure if this actually works but it is designed to circulate more air in your pond. Which it does. We have a 1/4 acre pond and about 12' depth. We are lucky and keep ours in our pond building so it is always inside and never is subjected to outside elements. Has it done anything for algae?!? Not sure. We got this because our fish were dying. Plus, every single year we are putting in algeacide, which I hate because it pulls O2 from your pond for the fish to breathe. No more dead fish so far. Now, we used both blue dye and algeacide this year and also got 5lbs Tilapia. Did the mixture of everything help the algea?!? Possibly. There really is no way for me to tell until next year if the algea comes back again. So, until then my review stays positive because it is doing a great job of circulating the pond water. Time will tell. 4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job So I'm unsure if this actually works but it is designed to circulate more air in your pond. Which it does. We have a 1/4 acre pond and about 12' depth. Update - I replaced 20ft of the end with regular 3/8" ag hose, it floats, but it now holds. However, lots of problems now with the wiring harness - connectors keep coming undone both inside the shrink wrapped harness (power white came apart), and outside the harness with the green ground wire snapped at the connector, and now the yellow capacitor wire has broken at the connector. Furthermore, I found the start capacitor just sitting in the mounting box next to the pump. The screw has sheared off that holds the capacitor mount to the pump body, and its awfully small to try and use a drill bit and an extractor.
Here's what I don't understand - this pump is designed for continuous use, so why is it coming apart after only four months?
